Lomé, Togo, 8th July, 2026: Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Togolese Republic, resident in Accra, Ghana, His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, formally presented his Letters of Credence to President Jean‑Lucien Savi de Tové at the New Presidential Palace in Lomé, marking the official start of his diplomatic mission.
President Savi de Tové warmly welcomed Ambassador Kaisamba, congratulating him on his appointment and assuring him of his government’s full support through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He expressed confidence that the High Commissioner’s tenure would further strengthen the bonds between the two West African nations.
In his remarks, Ambassador Kaisamba reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, recalling Togo’s pivotal role in helping end Sierra Leone’s civil war and hosting the landmark Lomé Peace Accord. He conveyed fraternal greetings from President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and highlighted Sierra Leone’s priorities in peace‑building, regional security, and maritime safety in the Gulf of Guinea.
“As I assume my duties and begin my diplomatic tour in Togo, I am eager to deepen our bilateral trade and economic cooperation,” Kaisamba stated, emphasizing Sierra Leone’s agricultural transformation agenda and the potential for knowledge‑sharing and expanded trade in agricultural commodities.
The ceremony also saw the presentation of credentials by the Ambassadors of Spain and Brazil, H.E. Luis Maldo Villafane Gomes Santos and H.E. Lossada Tress‑Quevedo Angel. High Commissioner Kaisamba was accompanied by Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Chancery Mr. Edwin Aiah Mbawa, alongside other Sierra Leonean diplomatic staff.
Ambassador Kaisamba, who is concurrently accredited to Burkina Faso and Benin, pledged to use his tenure to advance Sierra Leone’s voice within the ECOWAS framework and to foster stronger bilateral ties rooted in shared history and regional solidarity.
