Freetown, 22nd June, 2026 — The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has launched a state‑of‑the‑art Blood Bank and Dental Clinic at its Police Hospital in Kingtom, marking a major step forward in healthcare provision for officers and their families.
The unveiling ceremony drew senior police officials, government representatives, medical professionals, and civil society leaders, underscoring the importance of the new facilities in strengthening emergency response and specialized care.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Deputy Inspector General Sahr Yomba Senesi described the project as a “historic milestone” in the force’s commitment to welfare. He emphasized that access to reliable blood supply and quality dental care would directly improve the health and operational efficiency of police personnel.
Permanent Secretary Edwards Ngaujah, representing the Minister of Internal Affairs, commended the police leadership for prioritizing health initiatives, noting that the development aligns with the Ministry’s broader plan to transform the SLP into a professional and service‑oriented institution.
Director of Medical Services AIG Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Jalloh traced the hospital’s evolution from a small inspection room to a fully equipped facility with specialized units, including the newly inaugurated Blood Bank and Dental Clinic. Medical Superintendent ASP Dr. John Mumuneh Konteh credited the Inspector General’s leadership and expressed gratitude to partners such as Dr. Liu of Ping Kang Hospital, who trained police nurses in dental procedures.
Dental surgeon Dr. George Julian Elba praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of training police officers as dental nurses and reaffirming his support for the force’s oral health programs.
The event concluded with a ribbon‑cutting, unveiling of a commemorative plaque, and inspection of the new facilities by DIG Senesi and senior officers.
