Freetown, 11th August 2026- President Julius Maada Bio has announced ministerial and executive appointments, reshaping key portfolios in his government and signaling a recalibration of Sierra Leone’s economic and diplomatic priorities.
In the most notable shift, Mohamed Rahman Swarray, the former Minister of Information and later Labour, has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. His move places him at the forefront of Sierra Leone’s diplomacy at a time when the country is seeking stronger international partnerships.
Equally striking is the reassignment of Jeneba J. Bangura, who previously headed the National Revenue Authority (NRA), Sierra Leone’s chief revenue-generating institution. She now serves as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, bringing fiscal expertise into the foreign policy arena.
Meanwhile, the crucial Finance Ministry has been handed to Karefa A. F. Kargbo, succeeding Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura. Kargbo’s stewardship of the nation’s finances will be closely watched as Sierra Leone navigates inflationary pressures and fiscal reforms.
