Freetown, 7th July 2026 – Sierra Leone’s Institute for Governance Reform (IGR) has been reappointed as the Afrobarometer National Partner for the country, securing its role in conducting the next three rounds of surveys (Rounds 11–13).

The decision, announced by Afrobarometer’s Chief Executive Officer Joseph Asunka (PhD), follows what he described as “a competitive assessment and selection process in which IGR came up tops.” The reappointment affirms IGR’s reputation for delivering independent, high‑quality public opinion research that continues to shape governance and policy debates in Sierra Leone.

IGR expressed gratitude to its partners — including state institutions, civil society, media houses, political parties, and international organisations — for their collaboration and use of its data. As preparations begin for Round 11, the think tank pledged to work closely with national stakeholders to ensure wide dissemination and uptake of findings.

The surveys will be conducted under the technical supervision of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD‑Ghana), Afrobarometer’s core partner for Anglophone West and North Africa.

Afrobarometer, a pan‑African, nonpartisan survey network, has completed ten rounds of surveys since 1999 in up to 45 countries. Its data provides vital insights into democracy, governance, and quality of life across the continent.

For Sierra Leone, IGR’s reappointment ensures the country remains a key contributor to Africa’s leading source of citizen perception data — strengthening accountability, transparency, and inclusive development.
