Freetown, 13th April, 2026— The former president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Thomas Daddy Brima (TBD), has said that the sacking of former Leone Stars Head Coach, Mohamed Kallon, was a witch-hunt. He made this statement during an engagement on Radio Democracy 98.1.
Thomas Daddy Brima stated that the sacking of Mohamed Kallon has nothing to do with the contract agreement, saying that, “If the man doesn’t have a contract, why was he taking government funds,” referencing Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, the Executive Director of National Sports Authority’s statement that it is not about contract issues and qualifications.
“If you have agreed with somebody, and the person has started performing his duties, you need legitimate reasons to fire him, or if not, to pay him fairly,” he argued.
He said that the Minister of Sports [Augusta James Teima] was deceived into believing that Kallon doesn’t have a contract, noting that he saw all the papers Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai showed to the Minister of Sports.
Brima said that the manipulation at SLFA started when he was illegally set aside, saying that they fabricated lies about him. TDB questioned the leadership, referencing his time there, that they were not fighting. “When the leader is not good, everything that happens there will not yield fruit,” he noted.
He said that football is not a thing to fight about; It is the nation’s joy, noting that if he were the president, he and his team would not sit down to talk about “trivial things.”
