Freetown, 5th August 2026- Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay, has held a crucial meeting with the President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), Ms. Tuma Adama Jabbie Gento Kamara, ahead of the Association’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for Thursday, 6th August.
The meeting focused on ensuring a smooth transition within the SLBA, following the Association’s notice of 1st August 2026, which outlined plans for members to determine a caretaker body at the upcoming EGM. Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening the Bar Association as a vital institution in upholding the rule of law and advancing access to justice.
Speaking after the engagement, Attorney General Sesay emphasized the importance of stability within the SLBA. “The Bar Association is a vital institution in upholding the rule of law and advancing access to justice. We reaffirmed our collective commitment to supporting its continued stability and effectiveness in fulfilling this important mandate,” he stated.
The SLBA has been at the center of recent debates over governance and transparency, and Thursday’s EGM is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the Association’s future leadership.
