Freetown, 28th August, 2026 – The Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, has commended the Chieftaincy Authorities for formally signing two Deeds of Gift: the 418 acres of land already given to the Kono University of Science and Technology (KUST) and the Council Road Building, which will serve as KUST’s administrative headquarters. “This marks a significant step forward for Kono, KUST and higher education in Sierra Leone,” she revealed on her Facebook Page.
She said the achievement reflects what is possible through dialogue, patience, cooperation and a shared commitment to development.
“I extend my appreciation to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, the Chieftaincy Authorities and local leadership of Kono, the leadership of KUST, and all the sons and daughters of Kono and stakeholders whose goodwill and support helped make this possible,” she said.
She noted that the “Deeds are more than instruments formalising buildings and land; they lay the foundation for an institution that belongs to Sierra Leone and will serve generations to come.”
