Freetown, 2nd July 2026 — The All People’s Congress (APC) has announced a one-week deferment of its constituency elections, following consultations with the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).
Originally scheduled for Saturday, 4th July, the elections will now take place nationwide on Saturday, 11th July 2026. The decision came after a meeting between APC leadership and the PPRC at Tower Hill, Freetown, and in line with an advisory note issued by the Commission.
In a statement, the APC National Secretariat said the brief postponement would allow the party to conclude internal engagements and administrative processes, ensuring transparency, credibility, and unity in its democratic traditions.
“The adjustment in the electoral timetable does not diminish our resolve,” the party noted, stressing its commitment to peaceful, credible, and inclusive elections. The leadership urged aspirants, delegates, and members to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to the ideals of unity and mutual respect.
Acknowledging current challenges, the APC emphasised that its strength lies in unity, discipline, and loyalty. The party assured members that preparations are underway to guarantee successful constituency elections on the new date.
The announcement comes at a critical moment for the APC, as it seeks to reinforce internal cohesion while navigating Sierra Leone’s evolving political landscape.
