Freetown, 3rd July 2026 — The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security has deployed Labour and Occupational Safety Inspectors across Sierra Leone to conduct a month-long nationwide data collection exercise aimed at strengthening workplace safety and improving labour administration.

Running from 1 to 31 July 2026, the initiative will cover all sectors, with inspectors visiting businesses and workplaces to gather critical information on employment, working conditions, compliance with labour standards, occupational health and safety practices, and social security registration.

According to the Ministry, the exercise is designed to ensure accurate national labour statistics that will inform effective policy planning. Inspectors will request relevant employment and safety data, conduct brief interviews, and provide clarifications on labour and occupational safety requirements where necessary.

Employers have been urged to cooperate fully and provide accurate information to support the exercise. The Ministry assured the public that all data collected will be used strictly for official purposes, including policy development, labour monitoring, and improving workplace safety standards.

Officials emphasised that the initiative reflects government’s commitment to building safer workplaces and strengthening institutional capacity for labour regulation.
