Lungi, 16th July 2026- Sierra Leone is set to host the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, following a final inspection of the newly completed President Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi.
On Thursday, July 16, 2026, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh led senior government officials through the facility, reviewing its readiness to welcome West African leaders and delegates.
The inspection covered key sections of the state-of-the-art venue, including: the Presidential Hall and Presidential Lounge, Ministerial Lounge and Banquet Hall, Multiple Meeting Rooms, including the Justice and Freedom Rooms and a modern auditorium with retractable seating for over 500 guests
Vice President Jalloh briefed ministers and officials on protocols for receiving and coordinating ECOWAS Heads of State, stressing the importance of security, safety, and strict adherence to international standards.
Officials reviewed logistics, security arrangements, and final measures to ensure the facility meets global benchmarks for high-level engagements. The inspection reinforced Sierra Leone’s determination to deliver a successful summit and showcase its capacity to host major regional events.
The commissioning of the Lungi Conference Centre marks a milestone in Sierra Leone’s diplomatic posture, positioning the country as a hub for regional cooperation and dialogue. Hosting the ECOWAS Summit is expected to boost Sierra Leone’s visibility and strengthen ties across West Africa.
