Freetown, 13th March 2026- The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs has held a high-level meeting with a visiting Russian delegation to explore opportunities for cultural exchange and cooperation between Russia and Sierra Leone.

The delegation visited the ministry through arrangements facilitated by the Office of the Vice President and was accompanied by Member of Parliament, Sahr Emerson Lamina.

During the meeting, Hon. Lamina welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their visit, noting that the engagement created an opportunity for both countries to explore areas of cooperation. He explained that discussions centered on strengthening cultural ties through exchange programs, including presentations on Russian culture and potential partnerships that could benefit both nations.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Natalia Krasvoskaia highlighted the work of the Center for Public Diplomacy in promoting cultural diplomacy and fostering dialogue between Russia and African countries. She explained that the organization supports youth and women’s dialogue initiatives, educational exchanges, and broader cultural programs across the continent.

Krasvoskaia also disclosed plans to expand the organization’s presence in Africa, including the possibility of establishing a representation office in Sierra Leone to further strengthen cooperation in education, science, technology, and culture.

Responding on behalf of the government, the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Tunis welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the government’s willingness to partner with institutions that promote tourism and cultural development.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Judith C. Jones, provided an overview of the ministry’s mandate and ongoing initiatives. Meanwhile, Director of Tourism Travel and Exchange Program, Mohamed Jalloh, highlighted the ministry’s work over the years and identified potential areas for collaboration.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing appreciation for the constructive dialogue and optimism about future cooperation in the tourism and cultural sectors.
