Freetown, 15th April 2026- Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has urged calm, cooperation, and renewed focus on citizens during a meeting with mayors and district chairpersons from opposition APC-led councils and municipalities.
The engagement, held under his leadership as Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Decentralization and Local Governance, comes at a time when councils are grappling with operational challenges linked to the ongoing political impasse.
“We discussed our mutual desire for a swift resolution to the current political impasse,” Vice President Jalloh said. “We want to ensure the councils are able to function and provide services.”
He emphasized the importance of dialogue and encouraged stakeholders to use the IMC as a platform for problem-solving. “The IMC has a distinct role in facilitating dialogue and joint solutions,” he noted.
Closing the meeting, Dr. Jalloh reminded council leaders of their responsibility to citizens. “We must always remember that we are in service to our citizens,” he said.
The session ended with a shared understanding that collaboration, rather than division, is key to advancing local development and improving lives across Sierra Leone.
