Freetown, 25th May, 2026 —The National Council for Civic Education and Democracy (NaCCED), in partnership with the Open Government Steering Committee (OGSC), has celebrated the Open Government Week round table expert panel discussion under the theme: “Global Call to Transform the Way Government Serves the Citizens.”

The Open Government Week brought together ministers, the Clerk of Parliament, the Anti-Corruption Commissioner, civil society organizations, and citizens to converse with government officials about the issues that bother the people of Sierra Leone.

Speaking during the government open week, Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh, said the Open Government Partnership is about openness to information, transparency, and the participation of women to improve government work in the country.

The Chairman of NaCCED, Joseph Bindi, stated that Open Government Week pushed for government, civil society organizations, and citizens to celebrate openness and transparency in the public sector.

Co-chairman Rev. Diamond Suma announced that they are celebrating the 5th place ranking out of 33 African countries on the Open Parliament Index.

The Open Government Week round-table highlighted the problems that citizens face in order to help the government serve the people better.
