Bo District, 2nd June 2026 — A new era of digital transformation and community development has begun in Jorborhun Village, Tikonko Chiefdom, as the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, in partnership with the Orange Foundation, held a sod‑turning ceremony for the construction of the Orange Foundation Village at Felei Tech City.

The ambitious project will deliver a Digital and Innovative Educational Learning Facility and a Medical Center, designed to expand access to technology‑driven education and healthcare services in rural Sierra Leone.

The landmark ceremony drew government officials, traditional leaders, development partners, students, parents, and community members, who hailed the initiative as a transformative step for Tikonko Chiefdom.

Annie Wonni Katta, Director of Orange Foundation, described the project as a bold investment in young people and rural communities. She disclosed that construction is expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months, reaffirming the foundation’s commitment to education, innovation, and sustainable development.

David Felei, CEO of Tech City, expressed gratitude to the Ministry and Orange Foundation for partnering to bring meaningful development to Jorborhun Village. He said the facility would serve as a hub for innovation, learning, creativity, and empowerment for future generations.

The landholding family welcomed the project, pledging full support and cooperation. The Paramount Chief of Tikonko Chiefdom praised the initiative as a milestone that will positively impact young people, women, and vulnerable groups.

Bo District Council Chairman Victor Kosseh Hindowa commended the Ministry and Orange Foundation for complementing the council’s efforts in promoting quality education, healthcare delivery, youth empowerment, and technological advancement.

Orange Sierra Leone CEO Madam Isha Turay reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in communities through education and technology. She emphasized that Orange believes in creating opportunities that strengthen communities and contribute to national development.

Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Salamatu Bah, lauded the partnership, noting that the project aligns with government’s vision of expanding access to digital transformation, innovation, and healthcare services nationwide.

The ceremony featured a traditional libation led by Paramount Chief Professor Joe Kangbai Makavoray, symbolizing blessings for the project’s success.

The event concluded with the donation of school learning materials to over 100 pupils and students, including school bags, exercise books, and mathematical sets a gesture widely appreciated by beneficiaries and parents.
