Freetown, 14th May, 2026 – The European Union delegation to Sierra Leone has funded over 15 creatives through the Culture Moves Salone Mobility Fund (CMSMF) Project, where Creative Hub Africa (CHA) served as the implementing partner alongside lead partner, KAE European Affairs.
The mobility fund will cater to the selected Sierra Leonean creatives to travel within Sierra Leone and across Africa to work on their respective projects, and also for professional development, collaboration, skills exchange, and creative growth.
The keynote speaker, Jacek Jankowski, said that the project is a bridge between Africa and Europe. “Culture moves salone is more than an initiative; it is a bridge between Africa and Europe that is formed from trust, partnership and collaboration,” he said. Jankowski encouraged the grantees to put in creativity to showcase and tell their stories.
Chief of Operations at Creative Hub Africa, Rosaline Alpha, reaffirmed CHA’s continued support to the creative and cultural sectors in Sierra Leone. “At Creative Hub Africa, we believe that creativity is not just talent but innovation and identity. Through our shared spaces, business support, training programs, mentorship, we continue to support artists, entrepreneurs and cultural innovators to own sustainable creative enterprises in Sierra Leone,” She said.
Rosaline Alpha noted that the EU continues to support the creatives and open doors to more opportunities for people in the sector.
One of the grantees, Murtala Mohamed Kamara, expressed joy and appreciation to both the EU and Creative Hub Africa, noting that such an opportunity will contribute to unearthing stories in the creative sector.
Another grantee, Yenifa Sesay, commended them for the initiative, stating that such opportunities are rare.
“I’ve been working in the culture and entertainment sector for the last 18 years and a lot of times we don’t get the mobility and the support that we need, so this opportunity with the EU really warms my heart. It’s not just about me; it’s about Sierra Leone,” Sesay said.
