Freetown, 29th April, 2026 The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has announced a new five‑year strategic plan designed to guide electoral undertakings in the run‑up to the 2028 general elections.

Commission Chairman Edmond Sylvester Alpha said the plan will undergo a validation process involving all registered political parties at both regional and national levels. “Your input will be seriously and highly encouraged,” Alpha assured, noting that the document will only be approved after inclusive consultations.

The announcement came during the first meeting of the Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC), which focused on the strategic plan, a review of voter registration centres to assess accessibility and adequacy, and organizational restructuring recommended by the International Moral Guarantors.

Alpha also dismissed claims circulating about mass recruitment at the Commission. “At no given time have we come up with any portal to state that we have vacancies. It is not true,” he said firmly. “When the time comes, we will keep the public fully informed.”
