Freetown, 15th May, 2026 – President Julius Maada Bio has commissioned the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) office in Koidu City, Kono District, urging supporters to embrace party unity, discipline, and grassroots mobilisation ahead of future political contests.

The newly inaugurated office, named the Amina Maada Bio Hall, was officially opened in the presence of First Lady Fatima Maada Bio, senior party executives, traditional leaders, youth and women’s groups, and hundreds of supporters across the district.

Addressing the gathering, President Bio described the new office as a symbol of the SLPP’s growing political strength and cohesion in Kono District. He said that the facility would serve as a centre for party coordination, mobilisation, and engagement with local communities.

The President stressed that unity and loyalty remain critical to the party’s continued success, urging members to place the interests of the SLPP and national development above personal ambitions.

“The strength of the SLPP has always come from its connection with the people and its commitment to development,” President Bio said, while encouraging supporters to remain focused and united.

Bio cautioned party members with leadership ambitions to prioritise consolidating the achievements of the government rather than engaging in internal divisions, noting that the party’s future success depends on hard work, discipline, and continued service delivery to citizens.

President Bio commended First Lady Fatima Maada Bio for spearheading the construction of the office, describing her contribution as a demonstration of commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures.

Speaking at the ceremony, First Lady Fatima Maada Bio praised SLPP supporters in Kono for what she described as their unwavering loyalty to the party. She called on women and young people to remain actively involved in promoting peace, unity, and stability within the SLPP.

SLPP National Chairman Jimmy Batilo Songa also addressed supporters, highlighting what he termed major development gains achieved by the Bio administration in Kono District.

He pointed to the construction of a modern hospital and university as projects that have increased the district’s national relevance and attractiveness.

The event ended with renewed calls for solidarity among party members, as supporters reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the SLPP’s presence in Kono District and across the country.
