Freetown, 13th July 2024- The All People’s Congress (APC) has announced the rescheduling of its constituency elections, shifting the date from Saturday, July 11, 2026 to Saturday, July 18, 2026, following new directives issued by the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).
In a statement, the APC National Secretariat said the decision was taken after careful administrative and legal review to ensure full compliance with the PPRC’s instructions. The party emphasized that the move reflects its commitment to the rule of law, constitutional governance, and the conduct of internal elections that are transparent, credible, and inclusive.
The Secretariat acknowledged that the adjustment may inconvenience members and aspirants who had prepared for the earlier date, but urged patience and understanding. “This decision has not been taken lightly,” the statement noted, adding that the party remains dedicated to strengthening its democratic processes.
The APC also called on members and stakeholders to remain calm and disciplined, warning against actions or statements that could create unnecessary tension or division. Instead, the party encouraged dialogue, mutual respect, and unity as preparations continue for the polls.
The National Secretariat pledged to provide timely updates and ensure that every eligible member has the opportunity to participate in a free and fair electoral process. “Together, in unity and comradeship, we shall overcome every challenge and emerge stronger,” the statement concluded.
