Freetown, 4th April 2026– The appointment of Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq. as the new Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has drawn warm congratulations from Sierra Leone’s leading sports institutions, signalling renewed momentum for governance and development in the sector.
In a statement released on social media, the NSA described the appointment as a reflection of its commitment to strengthening leadership, transparency, and accountability in sports administration. “As an institution, we remain fully committed to supporting the vision of the new Chief of the agency for advancing sports development across Sierra Leone and fostering participation and promoting sporting excellence at all levels,” the Authority noted.
The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) also extended its congratulations, calling the appointment “well‑deserved” and praising Conteh’s wealth of experience, strong leadership credentials, and dedication to the growth of sports in Sierra Leone. The SLFA emphasized that his stewardship is expected to enhance governance and strengthen the wider sporting ecosystem.
Under the leadership of its President, Babadi Kamara, the SLFA expressed optimism about a productive collaboration with Conteh and the NSA, particularly in advancing football development and achieving shared national sporting goals.
Conteh becomes the third person to serve as Executive Director of the NSA, a role that places him at the center of Sierra Leone’s sports policy and institutional reform. His background includes extensive service in football administration, notably as a CAF and Premier League Match Commissioner, experience that has earned him respect across the sporting community.
His appointment is widely seen as a chance to consolidate reforms, deepen collaboration between institutions, and drive forward Sierra Leone’s ambition to elevate sports both nationally and internationally.
