Freetown, 8th April 2026 – The anguished voice of a father is echoing through his community after the alleged rape of his seven-year-old daughter, a tragedy that has left residents shaken and demanding accountability.
Alpha Abu Kamara, a commercial bike rider known locally as “Okada Kamara,” says his family’s life was shattered on April 1 when his young daughter was assaulted by a man from their neighborhood. Kamara recalls how his wife rushed to him in tears at Model Park, breaking the devastating news.
“I felt my world collapse in that moment,” Kamara told this reporter, his voice heavy with grief. “My child was bleeding, and neighbors had heard her screams. No father should ever have to see his daughter suffer like this.”
Kamara immediately alerted police officers nearby, who helped arrest the suspect. The accused was taken to New England Ville Police Station, where Kamara says he admitted to inappropriate contact, though he claimed it was only with his hand. The father insists the evidence of harm was undeniable.
The case was later transferred to Hilltop Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the area. There, the child was interviewed and her clothing collected as evidence. But Kamara expressed frustration that no immediate medical examination was arranged. “I don’t understand why my child was not given medical attention right away,” he said, adding that the suspect is allegedly known for similar behavior in the community.
Police at Hilltop confirmed the suspect is in custody and that investigations are ongoing, but declined to comment on the absence of a medical report at the initial stage.
The incident has sparked outrage and raised urgent questions about how sexual violence cases, especially those involving minors, are handled. For Kamara, the demand is simple yet profound: justice for his daughter.
“This is not just about my child,” he said. “It is about protecting every child in Sierra Leone. We cannot allow predators to walk freely while our children live in fear.”
As the investigation continues, the community waits anxiously, united in grief and anger, hoping that this case will not be another statistic but a turning point in the fight against sexual violence.
