Port Loko, Sierra Leone,10th November 2025 – Flagbearer aspirant for the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, has donated Le500 million to support the rehabilitation of the historic Bai Bureh Memorial Hall in Port Loko District. The landmark venue, deeply tied to the APC’s legacy and regional community events, is set to undergo major restoration as part of a broader self-help initiative.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Dr. Bangura described the donation as a personal commitment to both the growth of the APC and the development of local communities.

“I asked the National Executive to help me contact the Regional Executive of the North-West so I could make this contribution of five hundred million Leones,” he said. “We, the members, supporters, and well-wishers of the APC, must take ownership of such initiatives. This is our party, and we must invest our time, energy, and resources to strengthen it.”

Dr. Bangura emphasized that the gesture was driven solely by internal party responsibility, not external influence.

“We are not expecting assistance from outside the party. It is up to us, the members and supporters, to make such contributions and ensure that facilities like the Bai Bureh Hall are restored,” he added.

He announced that the funds would be formally handed over to the Regional Chairman and Executive Committee to facilitate the rehabilitation process.

Dr. Bangura also noted that the initiative aligns with the APC’s broader vision of community service, unity, and the preservation of national heritage.

“This donation is part of our community service and self-help programs—to rebuild what represents our people’s pride and history,” he said.

Party members and regional executives present at the ceremony expressed deep appreciation, describing the contribution as a timely intervention that will help restore the iconic hall to its former glory.

Osman Foday Yansaneh, Acting Chairman of the APC National Executive, commended Dr. Bangura’s effort and assured that the funds would be used judiciously.

Alie Suma, Chairman of the Port Loko District Council, also praised the gesture but reminded supporters that the Le500 million donation is only part of the Le11 billion currently needed for the full rehabilitation of the hall.
