Jendema, Pujehun District — In a major breakthrough against cross-border drug trafficking, customs officials of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) have intercepted a Guinean national in possession of 91 parcels of suspected cocaine at the Jendema Border Crossing between Sierra Leone and Liberia.
The arrest occurred on October 23, 2025, following intensified surveillance operations led by Mujiru I.I. Kallon, Manager of the Customs Services Department at Jendema and Head of Border Operations for Sierra Leone. The suspect, identified as Laurancia Kolie, was travelling on a Guinean passport number 005017470 and had successfully passed through several security checkpoints before being flagged during a final inspection at the customs post.
Authorities say the suspected narcotics were carefully concealed among her personal belongings, raising concerns about increasingly sophisticated trafficking methods. The suspect and the seized parcels were immediately handed over to the Mano River Police Division for further investigation and prosecution.
“This operation reflects our unwavering commitment to securing Sierra Leone’s borders and disrupting the flow of illicit substances,” said an NRA spokesperson. “We will continue to strengthen enforcement and collaborate with other agencies to protect public safety.”
The NRA and other border management institutions have reaffirmed their resolve to maintain strict vigilance across all entry points, emphasizing that coordinated efforts are essential to curbing drug trafficking and safeguarding national integrity.
