Freetown, 23rd July 2026- The United States Embassy in Freetown has welcomed Meghan Moore as its new Chargé d’Affaires, marking the start of a new chapter in Sierra Leone–U.S. relations.
Before she arrived in Sierra Leone, Moore served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. Her distinguished diplomatic career spans postings in Liberia, Nigeria, Hungary, Pakistan, Colombia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, alongside senior assignments in Washington, D.C.
Chargé Moore expressed enthusiasm about engaging with Sierra Leoneans, immersing herself in the country’s vibrant culture, and strengthening the enduring partnership between the United States and Sierra Leone.
“Chargé Moore looks forward to meeting the people of Sierra Leone, experiencing the country’s rich culture, and reinforcing the bilateral relationship that has long connected our two nations,” the Embassy noted in its welcome message.
Her appointment comes at a time when Sierra Leone continues to deepen international cooperation, and her presence is expected to bolster diplomatic, cultural, and development ties.
