Freetown, 5th  August 2026 — QCell has officially launched its new 035 mobile number series, introducing a fresh range of phone numbers aimed at expanding customer choice, supporting digital inclusion, and meeting the growing demand for telecommunication services in Sierra Leone. The new series was unveiled during a press conference held on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at QCell’s headquarters on Kingharman Road in Freetown.

Speaking at the launch, QCell’s Chief Executive Officer, Karthik Jayamani, described the initiative as a reflection of the company’s commitment to improving customer experience and expanding access to reliable telecommunication services across the country.

“The launch of the 035 Number Series demonstrates QCell’s continued investment in innovation, customer experience, and national connectivity. We are giving Sierra Leoneans more opportunities to choose numbers that reflect their identity while ensuring we continue to meet the growing demand for mobile services across the country,” the CEO said.

The 035 series offered customers the opportunity to secure memorable mobile numbers for personal or business use, including numbers linked to birthdays, anniversaries, or other significant dates, while providing access to QCell’s full range of voice, data, mobile money, and digital services.

To encourage uptake of the new series, QCell announced a six-month promotional package for every newly activated 035 SIM card. Customers would receive 10 minutes of voice calls, 300MB of data, and 100 SMS, in addition to access to the company’s complete suite of services, including high-quality voice and internet connectivity, QMoney mobile financial services, digital lifestyle products, affordable internet bundles, and nationwide customer support.

Also speaking at the event, Gabriel Mendy, head of QMoney Sierra Leone, described the launch as a significant step towards expanding financial inclusion and increasing access to digital financial services. He said the introduction of the 035 series goes beyond telecommunications, creating more opportunities for Sierra Leoneans to participate in the country’s growing digital economy through secure and reliable mobile money services.

“The 035 series is more than just a new number; it is a symbol of increasing accessibility and progress. It represents our commitment to innovation and our determination to bridge financial gaps across Sierra Leone. At QMoney, we believe financial services should not be a privilege for the few but a right for all,” Mendy said.

He noted that the initiative aligned with Sierra Leone’s national digital transformation agenda and would strengthen QMoney’s ability to serve customers, merchants, agents, and business partners while supporting broader financial inclusion goals.

Mendy stated that customers would be able to reserve and purchase preferred 035 numbers through designated QCell Customer Experience Centres, authorised dealers, and digital reservation platforms; premium and vanity numbers would also be available for customers seeking distinctive mobile identities.

The launch also featured a live demonstration led by the Head of Marketing at QCell, Edward Nelson, who showcased the process for acquiring the new 035 numbers. Customers were advised to present a valid national identification card containing a National Identification Number (NIN) when registering a SIM card.

Responding to journalists about growing concerns of mobile money scammers, Gabriel Mendy assured customers that “QMoney continues to prioritise the security of its users and is investing in measures designed to protect subscribers from fraud and financial crime.”

Emphasizing the company’s sustained public awareness campaign on digital safety, Edward Nelson noted that QCell regularly engages customers through weekly radio programmes and other educational platforms. He urged customers never to share their passwords or one-time verification codes, to enable two-factor authentication where available, and to avoid clicking on suspicious or unsolicited links that could expose their accounts to fraud.

QCell says it remains committed to connecting communities, empowering businesses, and delivering innovative telecommunications and mobile financial solutions that improve everyday life for millions of Sierra Leoneans.

The launch of the 035 series forms part of QCell’s broader strategy to strengthen digital inclusion, enhance customer choice, and support Sierra Leone’s expanding digital economy.
