Freetown, 13th February 2026- The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has issued a directive to the All People’s Congress (APC), clarifying the party’s leadership arrangements following the expiration of its executive term. The Commission emphasized that continuity and compliance with the Political Parties Act, 2022, must guide the party’s next steps.

“The current National Executive Committee (NEC), the National Advisory Committee (NAC), and other elected officers of the APC shall continue to provide leadership for a period not exceeding six months from the date of the expiration of their three-year term,” the Commission declared, citing Section 39(5) of the Act.

The PPRC further cautioned that if the six-month extension lapses before the party convenes its National Delegates’ Conference, responsibility for the elections will shift to the Independent Elections Management Committee (IEMC). In that scenario, the Commission explained,

“the Leader of the APC in Parliament shall constitute five other Members of Parliament, representing each of the five regions of the country, who shall be responsible for administering the party until the National Delegates’ Conference is held.”

This directive, according to the Commission, is designed to ensure that the APC maintains orderly leadership and adheres to the legal framework governing political parties in Sierra Leone. It underscores the Commission’s determination to safeguard democratic processes while providing a clear roadmap for the party’s transition toward its next national conference
