Freetown, 24th February 2026 – Female traders in Freetown’s bustling Central Business District (CBD) received a special show of recognition from the National Revenue Authority (NRA) this week, as the agency kicked off activities leading up to International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026.
The initiative, which began with an engaging session along Malama Thomas Street, created a platform for women entrepreneurs to share their experiences, discuss the challenges they face in sustaining their businesses, and explore ways to grow economically.
At the heart of the gathering was NRA Commissioner General, Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura, who spoke passionately about the importance of women in business and taxation. “Give to Gain,” she said, emphasizing that empowering women through inclusive taxation and targeted business support not only strengthens families and communities but also drives national development.
Mrs. Bangura highlighted that engaging female traders is part of the NRA’s broader goal to boost tax compliance and financial inclusion, ensuring that women’s businesses are supported and their economic impact fully realized.
The event closed with a sense of renewed partnership between the NRA and women entrepreneurs, recognizing their vital contributions to Sierra Leone’s economy and signaling continued support for their growth.
