Freetown, 29th July 2026 – The newly appointed Deputy Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohamed Orman Bangura, has paid glowing tribute to his predecessor, Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, for steering the institution through a period of reform, innovation, and stability.
Bangura, who now oversees Administration and Finance, delivered the commendation during a nationwide training programme on the Trust’s new Pension Administration System (PAS). The sessions, held at NASSIT headquarters and regional offices, are led by senior management and technical experts as part of the Trust’s ambitious digital transformation drive.
Outgoing Director General Daboh, addressing staff at headquarters, described PAS as a cornerstone of NASSIT’s future operations. He explained that the system integrates all aspects of the Trust’s daily work — from member registration and contributions to benefit processing and reporting.
“The PAS is more than just software; it represents the future of how we serve our members,” Daboh said, urging staff to embrace the system with commitment and ownership.
As he prepares for retirement, Daboh expressed confidence that PAS will transform service delivery, reduce delays, and enhance customer satisfaction. “We owe this to ourselves and our country,” he added.
Bangura, in turn, praised Daboh’s leadership, noting that under his stewardship NASSIT achieved milestones that repositioned the Scheme for efficiency and sustainability. He highlighted timely benefit payments, improved compliance among employers and employees, and streamlined departmental processes.
He singled out PAS as a landmark innovation, saying it has strengthened data integrity, boosted operational efficiency, and improved public confidence in the Trust.
“The outgoing Director General leaves behind a legacy of reforms and stability. The systems he championed will continue to serve the Scheme for many years to come,” Bangura affirmed.
The incoming Deputy Director General also reminded staff that their work at NASSIT is not only service to the nation but also an investment in their own future. “Serving NASSIT is serving oneself. Every contribution you make today is a contribution to your own social security,” he emphasised.
Bangura described Daboh’s transition from active service to retirement as a living example of the Scheme’s promise — moving from diligent service to becoming a proud beneficiary of the very system he helped strengthen.
He closed with a pledge of integrity, stewardship, and dedication to the Trust and the people of Sierra Leone: “I assure management, staff, and members of my total commitment to the call for service.”
