Freetown, 13th October 2026— Former Attorney General and presidential aspirant, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara (JFK), has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sierra Leoneans and various institutions for the support, prayers and solidarity shown to him during his recent legal ordeal.

In a public message issued after his release, Kamara said he was deeply humbled by the overwhelming concern demonstrated by citizens across the country, describing the outpouring of support as a powerful reminder of the bonds that unite Sierra Leoneans beyond political affiliations.

“I am deeply humbled by the love, prayers, solidarity and overwhelming support you have shown me during this difficult period,” he stated.

Kamara extended special appreciation to the Justices of the Supreme Court, the Lawyers’ Society, the leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC), the party’s legal and parliamentary teams, APC Members of Parliament, fellow flagbearer aspirants, members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), journalists, religious leaders, civil society organisations and ordinary citizens who publicly expressed concern and called for his release.

According to him, the support he received from people across the political divide demonstrated that shared humanity remains stronger than political, party and ideological differences.

He thanked those who prayed for him, defended his rights and stood in solidarity with him throughout the period, noting that their actions would not be forgotten.

Looking ahead, Kamara urged Sierra Leoneans to remain peaceful and respectful in their engagements, while continuing to uphold democratic values and the rule of law.

He called on citizens to place national unity and peace above partisan interests, stressing the importance of maintaining civility despite differing political views.

“As I move forward, I encourage you all to remain peaceful, steadfast and civil in your engagements. Let us continue to uphold the rule of law, respect our differences and put the peace and unity of Sierra Leone first,” he said.

Kamara concluded his message by thanking Sierra Leoneans for their unwavering support and offering prayers for God’s continued guidance and blessings upon the nation.
