Freetown, 2nd February 2026- Ecobank Sierra Leone has officially sealed a partnership with Icona London to expand access to affordable asset financing, enabling households and businesses to purchase essential appliances and electronics through flexible installment payments.
The partnership was unveiled during a media launch attended by customers, business leaders, and stakeholders, signalling a major step toward promoting financial inclusion and easing the cost of quality products in Sierra Leone.
Giving an overview of the initiative, Head of Consumer Banking at Ecobank Sierra Leone, Kate Thompson, said the collaboration was designed to remove financial barriers faced by many families and entrepreneurs.
“This partnership allows our customers to acquire home appliances and electronics with up to 100 percent financing and repay over a period of up to 36 months,” Thompson said. “It is targeted at households, SMEs, and corporate clients, making essential assets more accessible and affordable.”
She explained that the scheme forms part of Ecobank’s wider commitment to enriching lives and supporting economic growth.
“At Ecobank, financial inclusion is not just a slogan. It is about creating real opportunities that improve living standards and support business productivity,” she added.
Representing Icona London, Kai Pengusaquee highlighted the realities of the local market, where quality products often remain out of reach for many consumers.
“In Sierra Leone, people want good products, but the cost is often too high to pay at once,” he said. “Our goal is to make quality appliances affordable through installment options that fit people’s income levels.”
He noted that Icona places strong value on sustainable partnerships and community empowerment.
“Working with Ecobank, a trusted institution with decades of service, gives us confidence that this initiative will truly impact lives,” Pengusaquee said.
Speaking at the official signing ceremony, Ecobank Executive Director Winston George Williams described the partnership as a strategic move toward economic transformation.
“This collaboration is about making essential electrical appliances accessible through affordable financing,” Williams said. “Ecobank will leverage its financial strength, digital innovation, and customer knowledge to complement Icona’s industry expertise and product quality.”
He added that the initiative would have far-reaching benefits for households and businesses alike.
“It will improve household comfort, boost productivity for small and medium enterprises, and support corporate clients in managing capital more effectively, while contributing to national development,” he said.
Icona’s Country Director, Jayesh Pradhi, expressed appreciation to Ecobank, the media, and stakeholders for supporting the partnership.
“This initiative is about empowerment, inclusion, and community development,” Pradhi said. “Through this asset financing loan, families can now purchase essential appliances on flexible payment plans and improve their quality of life with dignity.”
He reaffirmed Icona’s commitment to innovation and affordability.
“We remain focused on providing high-quality products at prices that ordinary Sierra Leoneans can afford,” he added.
With the asset financing scheme now in effect, both Ecobank Sierra Leone and Icona London say the partnership will create new opportunities for individuals and businesses, while strengthening financial inclusion and economic resilience across the country.
