Freetown, 5th November, 2026 – Transnational Limited, operators of DStv in Sierra Leone, has launched a new restructuring of its subscription packages, introducing four new options aimed at making entertainment more affordable and easily accessible to households across Sierra Leone.

The launch was held on 5th November, 2026, at Country Lodge Hotel, Hill Station, Freetown.

Speaking during the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Limited, Natalia Abboud, described the development as the beginning of a new era for African Entertainment, bringing together CANAL+’s global reach and content relationships with MultiChoice’s more than 30 years of experience and understanding of African audiences.

“Last year in an unprecedented strategic move, CANAL+ acquired MultiChoice, bringing together two major players in the entertainment industry to form one of the most powerful entertainment companies in the world,” Abboud said.

She said the subscription options have been simplified into four packages: the former DStv Access package becomes DStv Starter – costs Le130 per month, DStv Family becomes DStv Select – costs Le260 per month, DStv Compact becomes DStv Sports – costs SLE 442 per month, and DStv Compact Plus and Premium become DStv Ultimate – costs SLE 910 monthly. She said these packages offer subscribers more content, improved entertainment experiences and greater value at more accessible prices.

The DStv Starter package offers more additional channels than its predecessor, including the brand-new SuperSport KICKOFF channel, Premier League Match of the Week, LaLiga, M-Net Legends and Star Life.

For DStv Select, it offers a wide variety of entertainment for the whole family. Subscribers will enjoy all movie channels, such as M-Net Movies+, Novelas+, Telemundo, Serie A, Betway PSL, as well as top kids’ channels like Nickelodeon.

For DStv Sports, it covers every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, cricket, selected international club rugby, WWE, and UFC. It also includes all the general entertainment channels available on DStv Select.

The DStv Ultimate is the most comprehensive all-in-one package, combining everything available on DStv Sports with additional premium sport, including Formula 1, MotoGP, ATP Tennis, and PGA Golf, as well as flagship M-Net entertainment.

Abboud said the restructuring reflects the company’s commitment to providing entertainment that responds to the challenging needs and financial circumstances of customers.  “African storytelling remains at the heart of what we do. Our commitment is to bring African entertainment to Africa and the world, alongside leading international content and outstanding live sports,” she stated.

Beyond the subscription changes, the company announced its plans to improve decoder technology, with a smaller 60-centimetre satellite dish, expected to be more affordable, portable, and capable of providing improved signal reception.

The Chairman of Transnational Limited, Adonis B. Abboud, described the launch as another significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s broadcasting and satellite television history.

He said the latest development was particularly important, stating that it would provide households the opportunity to consider the previously held belief that DStv is unaffordable, and provide them access to its services.

He also reminded the audience that coincidentally, the launch was taking place in 50 African countries, which he described as a continent-wide development in the provision of entertainment services.
