The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) approved a proposed budget of $480.67 million for Sierra Leone, focusing on enhancing the energy sector to drive economic growth and improve living standards. The budget is divided into four main components: the Transmission Backbone Project, the Distribution and Access Project, the Power Sector Reform Project, and Monitoring and Evaluation, with additional funds allocated for Program Administration and Oversight.

Exactly one year ago a seven-storey building on Shell New Road in Freetown collapsed without warning, killing at least 16 people and injuring dozens more.
