Freetown, 26th March, 2026 – The Chairman of the Office of Presidential Infrastructure Initiative (OPII), Dr. Eldred Taylor, has presided over a meeting of the Project Management Technical Committee (PMTC) for the Lungi Hotel, Congress Centre and Presidential Villas Construction Project, praising President Julius Maada Bio’s transformative vision to position Sierra Leone as a competitive destination for tourism and international state engagements.
Dr. Taylor emphasized that while the project has three components, priority is being placed on completing the congress centre and presidential villas ahead of the ECOWAS Summit of Heads of State in June 2026. He noted that President Bio is determined to leave a legacy as ECOWAS Chair by championing regional integration, peacebuilding, and economic diplomacy, while equipping Sierra Leone with the infrastructure to host future global events.
“Let us all work concertedly to deliver this project in record time so that it will stand as a monumental legacy for the progressive and transformative Chairman of ECOWAS,” Dr. Taylor urged.
He commended EPC contractor FB Group for its commitment, noting that the company is working overtime to ensure timely completion. Representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the National Revenue Authority, and the project management team reaffirmed their support, pledging transparency, financial sustainability, and expedited processes to meet deadlines.
The PMTC unanimously adopted its Terms of Reference, underscoring collective commitment to the project. The initiative, advanced under a Public‑Private Partnership (PPP) model, is expected to deliver world‑class facilities that will boost Sierra Leone’s international profile and strengthen its capacity to host major events.
