Freetown, Sierra Leone, 12th September 2025- The country’s main opposition, All People’s Congress (APC), has officially withdrawn its 2023 presidential flagbearer, Dr. Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara, from his role as Chief Negotiator in the Agreement for National Unity.
The move, which affects the Tripartite Committee tasked with implementing the accord, was confirmed by APC Party Scribe Lansana Dumbuya in a Friday morning chat with Truth Media.
“Yes, Dr. Samura has been withdrawn,” Dumbuya said. “We’re currently holding discussions on who will replace him. A few names are on the table, and once we decide, the public will be informed.”
Until his exit, Kamara was the face of APC at the negotiation table, a role many saw as symbolic of the party’s stake in shaping post-election consensus. Now, with his seat empty and no successor named, speculation abound.
Insiders suggest Dr Kaifala Marrah could be tapped as the next APC representative, given his deep involvement in the process and his headline-making refusal to sign the agreement during its initial phase. His return would mark a dramatic twist in the party’s negotiation strategy and possibly reignite debates over the unity accord itself.
