Freetown, 11th September 2025– The Chief of Staff of the Sam 28 Movement, Brima Michael Turay, has issued a firm warning that the group will seek legal redress if the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) fails to resolve the ongoing dispute surrounding the eligibility of former Vice President Alhaji Chief Sam Sumana to lead the All People’s Congress (APC) in the 2028 elections.
Speaking to Truth Media, Turay emphasized the movement’s commitment to pursuing every lawful avenue to defend Chief Sumana’s political rights.
“If PPRC cannot resolve the matter, we shall go to court,” Turay declared.
The controversy centers on whether Chief Sumana qualifies to contest for leadership within the APC, following his readmission into the party. Turay pointed out that September 10 marks exactly five years since Chief Sumana was officially reinstated as a member, a milestone the Sam 28 Movement views as critical to his eligibility. However, the APC leadership reportedly disputes the validity of that timeline and Sumana’s standing within the party.
The Sam 28 Movement, which was formed to advance Chief Sumana’s political vision after his bid to lead the APC in the 2023 elections, insists that the matter must be resolved transparently and in accordance with party rules and national law.
