Moscow, 8th September, 2026 – The Embassy of Sierra Leone in the Russian Federation has confirmed that stipends for the 2025/2026 academic year have been credited to its account and will begin disbursement to scholarship students on Friday, September 11, 2026, between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
In a statement, the Embassy emphasized that each student must present proof of Sierra Leonean identity and active university registration in Russia before receiving payment. Required documentation includes:
- Valid Sierra Leone passport with a current Russian visa.
- Up‑to‑date academic progress report for the 2025/2026 academic year.
- University identity card.
- Contact details of the Dean of Foreign Students at the student’s institution.
The Embassy noted that the information will also be used to compile detailed progress reports for the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, which supports stipend payments for the upcoming academic year.
Students are required to collect their stipends in person by November 30, 2026. Any unclaimed funds after this date will be repatriated to Sierra Leone’s Consolidated Fund, the Embassy warned. Exceptions will only be made for students who provide valid reasons for non‑collection.
The stipend programme is part of Sierra Leone’s broader commitment to supporting citizens studying overseas, ensuring that scholarship beneficiaries receive financial assistance while maintaining accountability through academic reporting.
