Freetown, 23rd June, 2026 — The All Peoples Congress (APC) has announced the deferment of its Constituency Lower-Level Elections, shifting the polls from the originally scheduled date of Tuesday, June 30 to Saturday, July 4, 2026.

In a statement signed by National Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, Esq., the party explained that the decision was taken in consultation with the Interim Elections Management Committee (IEMC) to allow members nationwide to fully participate in mourning activities following the recent deaths of senior APC stalwarts.

“The Party believes it is important to afford members across the country the opportunity to participate fully in the ongoing bereavement activities while preserving the unity, dignity, and solidarity that have always characterized the APC,” the Secretariat noted.

The APC urged aspirants, delegates, and stakeholders to use the additional time to strengthen engagement within their constituencies and prepare for peaceful, transparent, and credible elections. Party officials emphasized that the success of the lower-level polls is critical to the continued democratization and institutional strengthening of the APC.

Members were further encouraged to conduct themselves responsibly, promoting unity, peace, and mutual respect throughout the process. “Let us work together to ensure that the constituency elections are conducted successfully and provide a firm foundation for the next stages of our internal electoral process,” the statement added.

The Secretariat expressed gratitude to members for their understanding and cooperation, reaffirming the party’s commitment to internal democracy and organizational renewal.
