Freetown, 13th February 2026-   The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) has announced new costs for multi-purpose and securitised biometric ID cards, effective February 23, 2026, citing adjustments in line with prevailing Bank of Sierra Leone exchange rates.

The Authority explained that the changes follow provisions in the agreement between the Government of Sierra Leone and Constrat Systems SL Ltd, ratified by Parliament in March 2022, which allows for periodic reviews based on currency fluctuations.

“The cost adjustment seeks to ensure continued availability of high-quality securitised ID cards without supply and service disruption,” the NCRA stated, adding that the move will help mitigate material stock-outs while safeguarding affordability and efficiency.

National ID Card: SLL 165.00 (up from SLL 145.00), Non-National ID Card: SLL 2,305.00 (up from SLL 2,005.00), ECOWAS National ID Card: SLL 280.00 (up from SLL 245.00) and ECOWAS Non-National ID Card: SLL 465.00 (up from SLL 405.00)

The NCRA assured the public that production and issuance services will continue seamlessly across all its offices and outlets nationwide.

“Management and its partners wish to further assure the general public of continued and effective ID card production and issuance services across the country,” the statement emphasized.

The biometric ID cards, launched in January 2023, remain central to Sierra Leone’s civil registration system, serving multiple purposes including identification, financial transactions, and regional mobility under ECOWAS protocols.
