MOSCOW, RUSSIA 5th November 2025—The National Union of Sierra Leone Students-Russian Federation (NUSS-RF) officially inaugurated its 2025/2026 Executive Council in a ceremony rich with inspirational messages of unity, academic focus, and collective responsibility.

President Cautions on Academic Rigour and Compliance

In his opening statement, the newly elected NUSS-RF president, Emmanuel Kalie Kamara, extended gratitude to guiding figures and issued a critical admonition to the executive and general membership. He stressed that the path ahead is challenging, burdened by intense academic rigour, and the necessity of cultural assimilation.

“The expiration of a visa or permit is not a matter to be taken lightly; it is the foundation of your legal standing and security,” he stated, urging students to be meticulously attentive to their official documents.

To immediately fortify the Union’s support structure, two key welfare initiatives were launched:

  • A scholastic mentorship program.
  • Online Russian Language classes for newly admitted students, paired with improved airport reception logistics.

Distinguished Alumni Share Wisdom

The ceremony featured several influential speakers who reinforced the foundational principles of the union:

Dr. Abdul Karim Williams, a speciality medical student and former NUSS-RF president, delivered a comprehensive speech on the Foundational Principles that have sustained the union through decades of trials.

Dr. Sia Francess Saquee, a PhD. student, highlighted that unity allows students to harness opportunities, share purpose, collaborate, and speak with a single voice in policy-making.

Alfred Kamara, an erstwhile president, shared an unforgettable thought on The Power of Shared Vision and Unity, stating: “When we align our stars our talents, hopes, and efforts we create a constellation far brighter than any one of us could ever be alone.”

The Call to Nation-Building and Mentorship

Emmanuel Mbowa, a dedicated student advocate and journalist from Truth Media, reminded the students of their vital roles as knowledge ambassadors and policy innovators contributing greatly to Sierra Leone’s human capital index. He urged students not only to acquire knowledge but also to develop skills that prepare them for self-reliance.

In a powerful address on leadership, Dr. Sama Kailondo Banya emphasised that true leadership lies in mentorship recognising and nurturing potential in others to ignite inspiration and courage among the membership.

A Covenant Pledged

The ceremony culminated with the president administering the oath of office to the new executive council. In closing, Vice President, Aiah humbly thanked the guest speakers and affirmed the council’s commitment to relentlessly championing student welfare.

“The executives earnestly invite your continuous support, constructive ideas, and active participation to sculpt a lasting legacy of unity and purpose together,” he concluded, signalling the commencement of the new administration’s term.
