Freetown, 26th November, 2025- Alfred Minkailu Koroma, a member of the All People’s Congress (APC) Communications Team, has cautioned that the Tripartite Committee is “at the brink of collapse” due to missed deadlines and what he described as government’s deviation from the committee’s terms of reference.

“The Tripartite Committee is at the brink of collapse because some of the recommendations had timelines that have already elapsed. All recommendations should have been implemented before the first quarter of 2026. If that does not happen, we will not be able to implement those that relate to the electoral laws.”

Koroma’s remarks follow accusations by the APC against the Tripartite Steering Committee Secretariat (TSCS), which the party claims has engaged in unilateral and opaque actions, particularly in the rollout of civic engagement sessions across Sierra Leone.

“This is an outrageous attempt to shrink democratic participation and manipulate the national consultation process,” the APC stated, stressing that Recommendation 78 calls for open and uncensored engagement by all Sierra Leoneans, regardless of political affiliation.

Speaking to Truth Media, Koroma argued that several committee recommendations carried timelines that have already expired. He noted that all recommendations should have been implemented before the first quarter of 2026, warning that failure to do so would make it impossible to implement those relating to electoral laws.

Koroma also raised concerns about the composition of the committee, pointing out that the Chief Minister, whom he described as having political ambitions, serves as chairman of the steering committee. He added that the APC was not consulted during the committee’s formation and currently holds only three seats out of 20.

Ngolo Katta is the Coordinator of the Tripartite Steering Committee Secretariat, in an engagement with Truth Media had responded to the allegations of bias made by the APC party. He clarified that his office functions as the operational wing of the steering committee, responsible for implementing directives rather than setting them.

He emphasized that all activities emanate from the steering committee itself and that the APC, like other stakeholders, is duly represented in the process.
