Freetown, 13th February 2026-  The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has announced that it will deploy staff across Sierra Leone to monitor the conduct of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party’s lower-level elections, which are set to begin this weekend.

In a statement, the Commission emphasized that the monitoring exercise falls under its constitutional and statutory mandate to ensure compliance with democratic principles and the rule of law.

“The leadership and membership of the APC are hereby admonished to conduct themselves within the provisions of the APC Constitution of 2022; Rules and Regulations for the Conduct of Internal Elections of the APC; the Constitution of Sierra Leone (Act No. 6 of 1991); the Political Parties Act (Act No. 25 of 2022); and the Public Order Act (Act No. 46 of 1965, as amended),” the Commission declared.

The PPRC further encouraged APC members and supporters to uphold Section 35(2) of the 1991 Constitution, which requires that the internal organization of political parties conform to democratic principles.

“The internal organisation of a political party shall conform to democratic principles, and its aims, objectives, purposes and programmes shall not contravene, or be inconsistent with, any provisions of this Constitution,” the Commission reminded.

The Commission also advised party members to channel any concerns through the appropriate legal and institutional frameworks, stressing that adherence to due process is essential for credible and peaceful elections.

This monitoring exercise comes at a critical time for the APC, as the party seeks to strengthen its internal structures ahead of future national political contests.
