Freetown, 7th July 2026- The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has announced the suspension of several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) found to be operating outside the country’s established policy framework.

Officials stressed that compliance is essential to ensure accountability, transparency, and the effective use of resources entrusted to NGOs.

In its directive, the Ministry ordered the immediate suspension of the following organizations: Paida Foundation, Activate Hope Sierra Leone, Women’s Association for National Development, Stitching Wango Sierra Leone, Fama Women’s Programme, Hakeen and Hakeema Charity Organisation, Assembly of God Development Agency

The Ministry emphasized that the move is not intended to undermine the contributions of NGOs, which play a vital role in national development. Instead, it described the suspension as a proactive measure to strengthen the integrity of the sector and build greater public trust.

Officials reiterated their commitment to working with compliant organizations to ensure that the NGO community continues to serve Sierra Leone effectively and responsibly.
