Freetown, 8th December 2025 – The High Court of Sierra Leone (General Civil Division) is set to hear an application on December 10, 2025, concerning the planned extraordinary general meeting of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA).
The matter, filed under Misc. App. 253/24, arises from a motion brought by the first defendant, Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah through OJP Legal. The application seeks an interim order restraining the SLBA and its officers from proceeding with preparations for the extraordinary general meeting scheduled for December 10 at High Court No. 2, Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown. The meeting was intended to nominate and elect representatives of the Bar Association to the General Legal Council (GLC).
The defendants argue that the meeting should not go ahead until the court determines the application before it challenging the legitimacy of the current executive of the SLBA. The motion further requests that the current SLBA representatives at the GLC continue to serve in their roles pending the court’s decision.
The application also indicates reliance on an affidavit sworn by Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah on December 5, 2025, together with attached exhibits.
The case involves the SLBA and its president, Tuma Adama Jabbi, as plaintiffs/respondents, with several members of the association named as defendants/applicants.
The High Court will consider whether to grant the interim orders and any other reliefs deemed fit, with costs to be determined in the cause.
