Freetown, 30th September, 2026 -Residents of Freetown will face a temporary halt in water supply on Thursday, October 1, as the Guma Valley Water Company announced a 12-hour shutdown to carry out urgent repair works.
According to an official notice issued by management, the interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., affecting households and businesses across the capital. The company explained that the shutdown is necessary to fix leaking concrete structures at the Mile 13 Treatment Plant and repair the 18-inch transmission pipeline at Mile 13 Village.
Management assured the public that every effort will be made to complete the repairs within the stated timeframe and restore water supply promptly. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the understanding of our valued customers,” the notice read.
The announcement comes as part of ongoing maintenance efforts to strengthen Freetown’s water infrastructure, which has faced increasing pressure from rising demand and ageing facilities.
