Freetown, 27th March 2026- As part of efforts to contribute to the rebuilding of Nyapui School of Excellence in Kenema, EcoBank Sierra Leone has donated fifty dormitory mattresses to the school following two devastating fire incidents on February 3rd and 21st, 2026. The fires destroyed the dormitory, multipurpose halls, and essential materials, leaving students in dire need of support.
On March 27th, 2026, EcoBank delivered the mattresses to the school management. During the handing-over ceremony, Sheikh Omaru Jalloh, Head of Brand, Communications and Marketing, expressed the bank’s solidarity with the school. He noted that the donation was aimed at restoring a safer and more conducive learning environment for pupils affected by the tragedy.
“This gesture builds on the existing collaboration between SEND Salone and EcoBank, and reflects our commitment to supporting girls’ education, especially at Nyapui School of Excellence,” Jalloh reaffirmed.
He further highlighted EcoBank’s previous contributions to the school, including the provision of desktop computers, refurbishment of the ICT laboratory, internet connectivity, and the establishment of an e-learning suite to strengthen ICT education.
Principal of Nyapui School of Excellence, Mrs. Magdalene M. Belmoh, described the support as timely and commended EcoBank for its consistent role in promoting quality education for girls.
“We are very grateful for the continuous support we receive from EcoBank Sierra Leone, especially during these trying times,” she said.
