7th November 2025- President Julius Maada Bio has departed Freetown for Abuja, Nigeria, where he will deliver the keynote address at the 12th Convocation Ceremony of Baze University and participate in high-level investment engagements with top African business leaders.

The National Young Women’s Conference, held on November 4th and 5th, 2025, at the Vanilla Complex in Aberdeen, Freetown, brought together young women, gender advocates, policymakers, and civil society leaders to discuss women’s political leadership under the theme “From the Margins to the Stage: Reimagining Young Women’s Political Leadership in Sierra Leone.”

The body has since been returned to Moyamba for burial, while police investigations continue. No suspects have been named, but the bereaved family is cooperating with authorities as they pursue leads in what is now a criminal case of sexual assault and homicide.

While the projected GDP uptick is encouraging, the real test lies in translating growth into jobs. With a youthful population and rising expectations, the risk of economic exclusion looms large.

The press briefing forms part of the Sierra Leone Police’s ongoing public engagement strategy to address the national drug crisis and reinforce accountability in the fight against narcotics.
