Port Loko District, 8th December 2025- As the EU continues its nationwide Bus Tour on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), the team arrived in Mange Burreh, Burreh Chiefdom, Port Loko, where the heart of the conversation shifted from policy to lived experience. And at the center of that experience was Zainab Mansaray, a survivor of female genital mutilation (FGM), standing boldly in her orange polo shirt that read, “My Voice Matters.”

Freetown, 8th December 2025– As Sierra Leone commemorating the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jacek Jankowski, has praised the government for strides made in protecting women and girls but expressed disappointment over the recently enacted Child Rights Act of 2025, which failed to ban and criminalize Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

“She emphasized that graduates must embrace adaptability, continuous learning, collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution. The world they are entering cannot be navigated by technical skills alone; it demands emotional intelligence, humility, and strong ethical grounding”.
