Freetown, 17th September, 2026 — The African diplomatic community in Sierra Leone has paid glowing tribute to former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba, at a farewell and appreciation reception hosted by the Ambassador of Egypt, H.E. Rasha Soliman, under the auspices of the African Group of Ambassadors and Chargés d’Affaires.
The event, held at the Egyptian Residence in Freetown, brought together ambassadors, chargés d’affaires, and senior members of the African diplomatic corps to celebrate Kabba’s legacy as a statesman and pan‑Africanist.
In her remarks, Ambassador Soliman described Kabba as a “distinguished statesman, a true pan‑Africanist, and a dear brother” whose tenure left a lasting mark on Sierra Leone’s diplomatic landscape and strengthened continental solidarity.
She highlighted Kabba’s pivotal role in establishing the African Group of Ambassadors and Chargés d’Affaires in Sierra Leone, which provided a unified platform to advance the African Union’s Agenda 2063. She recalled his support for the first unified Africa Day celebration in Sierra Leone, hosted in May 2026 at the Miatta Civic Center, as a milestone in African diplomacy.
On bilateral relations, Ambassador Soliman praised Kabba’s contribution to deepening ties between Sierra Leone and Egypt, noting the landmark state visit of President Julius Maada Bio to Cairo in March 2025 as a turning point in institutional engagement.
“Your tenure was a golden era in which we translated diplomatic goodwill into tangible results for our peoples,” she said, adding that Kabba’s efforts had built “an enduring architecture of friendship, solidarity and pan‑African unity.”
The Ambassador assured Kabba that the doors of the Egyptian Embassy, and indeed all African missions in Sierra Leone, would remain open to him. “You earned the friendship of everyone in this room. We wish you every success in your future endeavors. Long live African solidarity,” she concluded.
The farewell reception underscored Kabba’s reputation as a bridge‑builder in African diplomacy and reaffirmed the commitment of the African diplomatic corps to continue fostering unity and cooperation across the continent.
