Freetown, 17th September, 2026 — The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has directed Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally to immediately desist from using its (SLPP Party) logo or presenting himself as a member or aspirant for the party’s flagbearership, following confirmation of his continued membership in the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP).

In a letter issued by the SLPP National Chairman, the party cited correspondence from the CDP’s National Secretary General dated September 3rd, 2026, which confirmed that Hon Musa Tarawally remains a registered member of the CDP. The SLPP said this information was decisive, given that Hon Tarawally had contested the 2018 Presidential Election under the CDP banner.

Quoting Article 6(3a) of the SLPP Constitution, the Chairman stressed that as Administrative Head of the Party worldwide, he is mandated to oversee the operations of the national administration. He therefore instructed Hon Tarawally to cease any representation, communication, publication, or activity suggesting affiliation with the SLPP.

The directive further noted that a press release will be issued to inform SLPP members globally, as well as the wider public, of the party’s position and to caution against any dealings conducted in the SLPP’s name.

The letter concluded with an appeal for immediate compliance, underscoring the party’s commitment to protecting its identity and ensuring clarity in its membership records.
