Freetown, 10th September, 2026 – Police in Freetown are investigating a suspected case of drowning after the body of an unidentified man was discovered along Lumley Beach Road on Thursday morning.
According to a report filed by Sgt. Edwin E.A. of Golf Police Post, the lifeless body was found at around 9:40 a.m. lying on the sand.
A team of officers, including detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) Sgt. John Talokota, visited the scene. Photographs were taken before the body was conveyed to the Kingtom Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation.
As of press time, police say no claimant has come forward to identify the deceased. Investigations are ongoing under the supervision of D/Chief Inspector Joseph Benya, Crime Officer at the Lumley Police Division.
