Freetown, 11th August, 2026 – The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackeyhas released the results of the 2026 National Primary School Examination (NPSE), recording a national pass rate of 78.2 percent. Tower Hill Kindergarten and Primary School emerged as the top‑performing institution, with 11‑year‑old Davies Bethany scoring an aggregate of 351, the highest in the country.
According to the figures released, 164,714 pupils registered for this year’s NPSE. Out of that number, 160,161 candidates sat the exam, representing an 83% turnout. 52% of the candidates were female and 42% were male.
The Minister also disclosed that 89 more schools participated compared to last year. However, he raised concerns over 4,553 absentees while disclosing that he will investigate the matter of absenteeism. In addition, he said that “1,920 results have been set aside due to suspected examination malpractices,” among others.
This year’s top scorers are as follows: Davies Bethany, an 11-year-old female candidate from Tower Hill Kindergarten and Primary School, scored 351; Jalloh Franklyn Sellu from Naiahcom Nursery and Primary School, Bahoma, Goderich scored 349; Samuel Heroder from International School Limited scored 348; Anderson Batherny Shalnel from Romans International Academy scored 347, and Otel Kargbo Lamin from Murraydeen Preparatory scored an aggregate 346.
The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education has congratulated all pupils, teachers, and parents for their dedication and hard work.
